What if as we gather around a festive tree, we reflect on who we are and who we could be?
What if ‘new year, new me’ was an actual thing and we all mutated into more hopeful, brighter and slightly braver variants of ourselves?
What if, in the midst of these storms, we dared to leave our shelters and move towards our dreams?
What if the storms we have been going through, the ones inside our heads and the ones outside, have been preparing us for this change?
What if during Corona, our understanding of what matters most, our values, have been tickling and trickling, slowly and surely swelling into a river of dreams?
What if we jump into that river?
What if we may not feel ready, but the hour has come?
What if the Hopi ‘elders say that we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water’
What if we celebrate those in the water with us?
What if we let go of the anger, the gossip, the people that weigh us down on our journey?
What if when we do let go, it’s not scary or cold – in fact, it’s ‘lovely once you’re in’ – and we begin to trust the flow of life, we’re not resisting the stuff that happens anymore?
What if we remembered that part of being a leader is being led? ‘The river has its destination’
What if we could be like water, and when we run into an obstacle in life, we raise our level and flow right over it?
What if we are the river? What if Rumi was right when he said ‘You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean, in a drop.
What if when we emerge from this immersion, this coronation – I mean, corona literally means crown – we will be in all our majesty, unafraid to change, to be who we were born to be?
What if we make this wish, around that festive tree, that the storms will pass, the weather will change, and with it, so can we.
